Tim Yazzie

Tim Yazzie grew up in San Felipe Pueblo, New Mexico, immersed in a rich artistic heritage. His maternal grandmother was known for her exquisite pueblo pottery, while his paternal grandfather was both a rug maker and a silversmith. From a young age, Tim was steeped in the traditions and culture of his community, learning valuable lessons about life from his maternal grandfather, a deeply spiritual man well-versed in pueblo history and customs. These teachings instilled in him a profound appreciation for ceremonial pueblo dances and shaped his artistic vision.

As a child, Tim discovered his passion for art and quickly recognized his talent for bringing his ideas to life. He could effortlessly sketch designs inspired by his surroundings—a skill he still employs in his jewelry-making today. Tim draws all his designs freehand on silver, allowing the materials to guide his creative process.

Tim began silversmithing as a young man, refining his skills alongside esteemed Native artists like Chalmers Day and Jimmy Harrison, who encouraged him to explore his talents. During this formative time, he developed many of his overlay designs and innovated by incorporating inlay work and stones, playfully dubbing this fusion his “orale” designs. His recent creations often feature motifs inspired by pottery, paying homage to his grandmother’s influence, and the addition of fine inlay and stonework elevates his pieces to the extraordinary.

After taking a six-year hiatus from his artistic endeavors, Tim recently relocated to Tucson, Arizona, where he has rekindled his passion for art. Embracing only the finest materials, he is now crafting new designs that push the boundaries of his native pueblo art. Tim is hopeful that through his jewelry creations, he can make a meaningful contribution to the rich legacy of Native American art.

Understanding Our Measurements

The length listed for bar necklaces is measured from clasp to hook, including the width of the bar. This total length does not directly reflect how the necklace will sit when worn. To more accurately determine where the necklace will sit, subtract the 'bar width' measurement from the 'length end to end" measurement.

For necklaces featuring extension chains, the length is measured from the clasp to the shortest option. There for if an extension length is listed it is in addition to the listed necklace length, allowing for adjustable sizing.
