The Candelaria Hills in Southwest Nevada are home to numerous turquoise mines, both large and small. Candelaria turquoise is sourced from the silver mine owned by the Silver Standard Company and is mined sporadically, as the area has primarily been exploited for silver and gold since the mid-1800s. The turquoise produced in this region can rival some of the finest in the world, typically forming in thin veins that range from deep electric blue to medium greens, often featuring black, red, and brown matrix. The highest grade of Candelaria turquoise showcases a striking dark blue color with red webbing, making it very rare and highly sought after by collectors. Additionally, the area is known for producing beautiful spider-webbed variscite, which can also hold significant value.
