Sonoran Turquoise: Mexico

Sonoran turquoise, mined from the Campitos Mountain near Cananea, Sonora, Mexico. This region produces several distinctive types, including Sonoran Gold, known for its vibrant colors like aqua blue, lime, and two-tone blue and green with a golden-brown matrix; Sonoran Rose, a natural bright blue turquoise; and Sonoran Blue, valued for its hardness, shiny pyrite flakes, and black oxide veins.

Royston Turquoise - Nevada

Royston Turquoise originates from the Royston mining district near Tonopah, Nevada, and has been mined since the early 1900s. This turquoise originally comprised four old claims located within the Royston range: Bunker Hill, Easter Blue, Oscar Wehrend, and Royal Blue. The Kingman Mine, located near Kingman, Arizona, is an active turquoise mine that has been in production since the 1880s, following its discovery by S.A. Colbaugh in the Aztec Mountains. The Colbaugh family continues to mine, process, sort, and distribute Kingman Turquoise. Most Kingman Turquoise is porous and requires processing for jewelry, with only about 3% of the stones being naturally hard enough for direct use. The mine is renowned for its blue matrix turquoise.
