Preston Haley
Preston, born in October 1996 near Gallup, New Mexico, is a fifth-generation silversmith with a rich family heritage in jewelry-making. He is the nephew of Ruby Haley, a renowned artist known for crafting Navajo Pearl necklaces. Ruby learned the art of bead-making from her grandmother, Annie Bahe Begay, at just six years old, and the craft has continued in the family. Preston’s cousins, Victoria, Veltenia, and Ben, are also skilled bead makers.
Preston learned the art of bead-making from his aunt Ruby a few years ago. When his father was laid off from the coal mine, Ruby began purchasing silver for Preston, giving him the means to start making a living through his craft. Inspired by his aunt, Preston also uses a special stamp on his beads passed down from his great-grandmother Annie.
Currently a freshman at San Juan College, Preston drives a couple of hours each way to attend his classes. In his free time, he enjoys welding, horseback riding, working with cattle, and roping. He often helps out with local ranches and, with his love for animals, incorporates a horse or cattle stamp on some of his beads. Known for his kind and soft-spoken nature, Preston is a young artist with tremendous potential!
About Hande Made Beads
These Navajo Pearls are Handmade:
Creating hand-rolled silver beads is a celebrated tradition among Navajo silversmiths and an icon of Navajo jewelry. Handmade beads are meticulously crafted, with each bead being the result of an extremely labor-intensive process. These beads are shaped by hand using tools such as hammers, pliers, and files. The lengthy process includes melting, rolling, cutting, shaping, soldering & filing each sterling silver bead by BY HAND. This meticulous time honored method is a highly skilled trade that few artists have mastered.
Understanding Our Measurements
Necklace lengths are measured from end to end, including the clasp. For necklaces featuring extension chains, the length is measured from the clasp to the shortest option. There for if an extension length is listed it is in addition to the listed necklace length, allowing for adjustable sizing.

Am I Buying Authentic Native Jewelry?
We prioritize honesty and transparency regarding the origin of our jewelry. Each piece on our site includes a detailed description, and if an item is not native-made, we clearly indicate that. While we do offer a small selection of imported jewelry, we do not support the importation of pieces that replicate original native designs.
