Rose Martin

Rose is a Navajo artist from Pinedale, New Mexico, where she spent most of her childhood. She learned the art of bead making from her aunt Nellie, one of the original Navajo handmade bead artists. Crafting runs deep in her family, as everyone, including two of Rose's children, has been involved in making beads and working with silver jewelry.

With 34 years of experience, Rose has built a successful career creating stunning silver beads, carrying on the legacy of her aunt. Each bead is meticulously crafted to ensure beauty and symmetry, reflecting her dedication to her craft. Her necklaces are not only perfectly made but also reasonably priced, making them accessible to many who appreciate her artistry.

Kingman Turquoise - Arizona

The Kingman Mine, located near Kingman, Arizona, is an active turquoise mine that has been in production since the 1880s, following its discovery by S.A. Colbaugh in the Aztec Mountains. The Colbaugh family continues to mine, process, sort, and distribute Kingman Turquoise. Most Kingman Turquoise is porous and requires processing for jewelry, with only about 3% of the stones being naturally hard enough for direct use. The mine is renowned for its blue matrix turquoise. About Hande Made Beads
These Navajo Pearls are Handmade:

Creating hand-rolled silver beads is a celebrated tradition among Navajo silversmiths and an icon of Navajo jewelry. Handmade beads are meticulously crafted, with each bead being the result of an extremely labor-intensive process. These beads are shaped by hand using tools such as hammers, pliers, and files. The lengthy process includes melting, rolling, cutting, shaping, soldering & filing each sterling silver bead by BY HAND. This meticulous time honored method is a highly skilled trade that few artists have mastered.

Understanding Our Measurements

Necklace lengths are measured from end to end, including the clasp. For necklaces featuring extension chains, the length is measured from the clasp to the shortest option. There for if an extension length is listed it is in addition to the listed necklace length, allowing for adjustable sizing.

Am I Buying Authentic Native Jewelry?

We prioritize honesty and transparency regarding the origin of our jewelry. Each piece on our site includes a detailed description, and if an item is not native-made, we clearly indicate that. While we do offer a small selection of imported jewelry, we do not support the importation of pieces that replicate original native designs.
