Robert Chee
Robert Chee is a Navajo artist hailing from the renowned Manuelito Trading Post area in New Mexico, celebrated for its rich tradition of Navajo rug weaving. As many traditional weavers have passed on, the continuation of this craft among the next generation is becoming increasingly rare. Robert specializes in traditional jewelry, with a particular focus on silver casting and intricate stamp work.
His father was a silversmith at the historic Mike Kirk Trading Post, and Robert fondly remembers his childhood spent there, exploring the nearby mountains and arroyos and riding horses. He is also related to the esteemed Navajo jeweler Harry Morgan, his first cousin, under whom he had the opportunity to apprentice. Growing up in a hogan, they shared a home, as their mothers were sisters, which instilled in Robert a deep appreciation for his heritage and the values of his matriarchal Navajo upbringing.
Born in 1952, Robert is the ninth of ten children, although two of his siblings have since passed away. He has two children of his own, neither of whom has pursued an interest in silversmithing. In his free time, Robert enjoys working around the house, restoring vintage cars, and cherishing moments with his grandchildren.
Golden Hills Turquoise:

This hard, high-grade material yields one of the most chemically pure turquoises available. Mining occurs only in winter due to summer flooding in the area. This rarity and the challenging mining conditions contribute to its elevated price in the market. More Info
